My most requested blog post is finally here! I have received so many questions about my trip and suggestions. There are little shops and places to eat all down the main strip, but below are things I did and enjoyed!
Places to Eat
Southern style cooking at its best! They serve up dinner family style and its all you can eat. The fried chicken, Collard greens, Mac and cheese and corn casserole is a must! Everyone gets their own dessert to eat there or take home!
If you’re in the mood for a local place without all the touristy hype, this place is it! The drinks were so good and the food was even better!
This place lives up to the hype! The pancakes and crepes were so so good! It also helps that the place is very cozy and quaint.
A little local place we found that had good food and drinks! I tried a chicken philly. It was an interesting take on a Philly cheesesteak. If you go, get the pretzel app with beer cheese!
Pay this little shop a visit for the best homemade candies! Be sure to grab some peanut brittle and peanut butter cups! So dang good!
Things To Do
This is a must especially if you go during Christmas time! It is all lit up and gorgeous at night!
Take the skylight up to the cutest little village. We went on the treetop trail through the sky and enjoyed hot cocoa by the fire pit. We planned to eat while we were up there but the restaurants were closed due to it being icy from the snow the night before.
- The Islands at Pigeon Forge
Pigeon forge is about 20 mins from Gatlinburg. It has all the tourist attractions that you can think of.
You can do a tour for $12 or pay $5 for a tasting. I love the tasting because the hosts make it fun and you get sample a ton of different flavors. Its a good way to spend 30 mins and enjoy some moonshine!
- Hike Laurel Falls
The most beautiful water fall at the end if this hike makes it worth it. Its an easy hike and mostly paved. Definitely family friendly.
- Hike Grotto Falls
This hike was absolutely breathtaking! A lot longer than I anticipated and never did make it to the top because it started to get dark so I had to turn around. It is about 3.6 miles up each way. There are tons of beautiful streams and creeks along the way – I even got to see beautiful deer. Overall my favorite experience!
I hope this little list helps on your trip. Happy and safe travels!
